In both trades the product is already finished before it reaches the end of the line. Anything that touches it can ruin it.

A sheet of glass or a roll of paper is at its most valuable, and easiest to spoil, while it is being moved along. A hard roller leaves marks on it. A woven covering presses its own pattern into the surface.

Felt has no weave and no join, so there is no pattern to press in and no seam to catch. A felt-covered roller carries the sheet and leaves nothing behind on it. Felt also holds its shape under constant pressure and copes with heat, which is what a roller covering has to do for months at a time.

What we supply here

All four products,and what they do

Everything we supply, and what each one is used for in glass & paper. Where something has no use in this trade, we say so.

Wool felt
Coverings, tubes and sleeves for the rollers that carry the sheet. Also the soft pads and seals on handling equipment, where a hard part would press a mark into the surface.

Non-woven felt
Used where heat, a chemical or the cost per metre rules wool out. Also as the sheets laid between stacked panes or boards to stop them rubbing against each other in storage and transport.

Rubber emery
For looking after the machinery rather than the product. Grinding and smoothing the equipment that handles the sheet, so nothing running against it carries a rough edge.

Not used in this trade
Spares for weaving machines. Nothing on a glass or paper line uses them.
