Continuous lengths for cutting down in your own workshop.
Wool and non-woven felt supplied on the roll, in widths and thicknesses to order.

Typically used for
Density classes
Soft0.15 – 0.23Padding, packing, dust shields, sound deadening

- Looks like
- Open and loose along the cut edge. You can see the individual fibres, and light gets into the surface.
- Feels like
- Squashes easily between finger and thumb, and springs most of the way back. The softest we supply.
- Comes as
- Sheet or roll. Cuts with a knife or a press without needing a machine.
- Tell us
- Thickness, the sheet size you want, and what it is padding or protecting.
Medium hard0.24 – 0.30Oil wicks, general seals, damping pads

- Looks like
- Tighter than soft. The edge still shows fibre, but it holds a clean straight line when cut.
- Feels like
- Firm, and gives under thumb pressure without collapsing. This is the general-purpose one — if you are unsure, start here.
- Comes as
- Sheet, roll, or cut to your shape. The usual choice for wicks and seals.
- Tell us
- Thickness, and whether it is sealing, holding oil, or absorbing vibration.
Hard0.31 – 0.44Washers, bearing seals, wear strips

- Looks like
- Dense and close. The edge is clean and smooth, more like board than cloth.
- Feels like
- Barely gives under your thumb. Stiff enough to stand a sheet on its edge.
- Comes as
- Sheet, or cut and punched to your drawing. Holds an accurate shape once cut.
- Tell us
- The part it replaces, or a drawing with the sizes on it.
Extra hard0.45 – 0.75Polishing wheels and bobs, high-load seals

- Looks like
- Almost solid to look at. Very little fibre visible at the edge.
- Feels like
- Hard, closer to firm rubber than to cloth. Does not squash by hand.
- Comes as
- Wheels, cones and heads for polishing, or sheet for heavy-duty parts. Can be turned to shape on a lathe.
- Tell us
- For polishing, the wheel diameter and the spindle it fits. Otherwise, the part it replaces.
Photographs show what each grade looks like, not a particular batch. We source these goods rather than make them, so shade and finish vary a little between mills.
